STRICTLY THE BEST VOL. 61 LAUNCH EVENT WITH FAME FREQUENCY IN JAMAICA AND CARIB BRIT IN THE UK

VP Records launches Strictly The Best. Vol. 61 (STB Vol. 61) today. The latest edition to the long-running compilation series features the voices of Busy Signal, Gyptian, Bella Blair, TeeJay and more. FAME Frequency, the popular weekly music show hosted by Debbie Bisoon will feature songs and artists from the newest edition. The London based Carib Brit radio program will also host a launch event.
Strictly the Best is the annual compilation of emerging hits and breaking artists on the contemporary reggae scene. STB 61 is 24 of the hottest current and breaking hits, fans of roots reggae, lovers rock and dancehall flock to the Strictly The Best brand with confidence. Established July 1991, Strictly The Best is the longest-running compilation series in reggae.

Dubbed a “virtual entertainment zone” by Jamaica’s Minister of Entertainment Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, FAME Frequency is a partnership with FAME FM and RETV in Jamaica, hosted by Debbie Bissoon and DJs ‘Captain’ Colin Hines, DJ Narity, DJ Xavier and DJ Rodrick on a live simulcast, with this week’s theme being the debut of Strictly the Best 61.Ms. Bisoon and the RETV team was a part of last year’s Livestream launch of Strictly The Best – LIVE from New York.
In the UK, VP Records has teamed with the new British Caribbean media and culture hub, Carib Brit as well as the UK’s leading online event party starters, Shabba Party to host a packed evening of classics balanced by this year’s new hits.
Fans will be entertained with selections by Robbo Ranx, Rampage Sound from BBC 1Xtra and Pharaoh G and Kash Jones who are presenters at Reprezent Radio. Fans will be entertained from 8 pm to midnight UK time.
The roll-out for STB Vol. 61 began with the Richie Spice track “Murderer (featuring Dre Island),” “Gimme A Light” from up-and-coming singer Bella Blair and the mini-movie for Busy Signal’s “Seen It Before.” Upcoming is TeeJay’s “True Colors.”
The two-disc set features original illustrated artwork by Constantinos Pissourios @versioncos14 highlighting sound system culture. “The DJs and sound systems have always been at the heart of reggae and dancehall,” said Christopher Chin, CEO of VP Records and executive producer for the series. “The art on Strictly is a tribute to people who continue to support the music – selectors and DJs.”
